The Oude Landen project in Antwerp aims to enhance the city’s climate resilience, turning water challenges into opportunities. The hydrographic basin forms the project’s backbone, while Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), guided by a strategic roadmap, manage water, improve biodiversity, strengthen landscape identity, and offer recreational spaces.
Three flood scenarios have been developed to anticipate and mitigate flooding, ensuring resilience to future climate challenges. By simulating different flood conditions, the project plans adaptive water management strategies, from prevention to response.
Oude Landen is more than a water management plan – it’s a model for sustainable, innovative landscape design. It’s been great to be part of the journey with the team led by Felixx, and to bring in ecological advice. The final result is now presented!
