Oude Landen is a natural and rural area north of the city of Antwerp, characterised by strong, historical and natural water structures. Over the years, these have been affected in various places, resulting in flooding and desiccation. Nature-based solutions will achieve a renewed balance in the natural water system. This will result in a natural environment and a healthy ecosystem with many benefits to humans, flora and fauna.
The team was led by Felixx (expert in landscape design and nature-based solutions) with input from Deltares (global leader in applied research into the water and soil system in the field of Building with Nature programmes). Felixx and Deltares have previously worked together successfully on various climate adaptation projects. I provided ecological advice for the master plan.
